TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA
1. - GENERAL INFORMATION
1.1 - The 2015 - Commonwealth Wrestling Championships will be held in city of TORONTO, CANADA hosted by York Wrestling Club ( York University, Toronto, Ontario, CANADA ) - Wrestling Canada Lutte. The Commonwealth Championships is being hosted under the auspices & sanction of the COMMONWEALTH WRESTLING ASSOCIATION and using the Rules of COMMONWEALTH GAMES FEDERATION and UNITED WORLD WRESTLING ( formely FILA ).
1.2 - The event will be held in City of TORONTO, Ontario, Canada at the YORK UNIVERSITY Sports Hall ( Tait McKenzie Centre ) for spectators and has all the necessary facilities for Wrestlers, Coaches, Officials, Referees and Spectators.
1.3 - The competition will take place on JUNE 6-7, 2015 .
2. - TECHNICAL CONDITIONS
2.1 - The Commonwealth Wrestling Championships will be run in accordance with UNITED WORLD WRESTLING ( NEW ) Wrestling Rules with the modified Commonwealth Wrestling Association - Rules and Pool system, Team scoring and Team compliment.
2.2 - Each Commonwealth Wrestling Team can enter a maximum of two ( 2 ) athletes per weight class in Men's and Women's FREESTYLE and Men's GRECO-ROMAN wrestling style.
PLEASE NOTE - As in the past Commonwealth Wrestling Championships - In order to promote more participation of athletes in Men's Freestyle, Women's Freestyle and Men's Greco-Roman WRESTLING, we are allowing the following ........
- In the Men's & Women's Freestyle and Men's Greco-Roman Wrestling, each Commonwealth nation can field a maximum of two ( 2 )- wrestlers per weight class. If a Commonwealth nation is not fielding a National Team then a State / Provincial or Club wrestlers or Individual wrestlers can participate & shall be accepted as long as there is maximum of- 2 wrestlers per weight class maintained per Commonwealth Nation.
As in the past we will accept Teams that may come from a State or a Province or a Club ( example - Australian, Nigerian, South African or Indian states, Pakistan and Canadian provinces or Clubs). Individual Men's & Women Freestyle wrestlers and Men Greco-Roman wrestlers will be allowed to compete as long as they are from a member Commonwealth nation and have or purchased a UWW/FILA licence before the competition. A combination of National Team and or State, Province, Club or individuals will be considered as long as the maximum number of TWO ( 2 ) athletes per weight class is maintained from a Commonwealth nation.
For the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship only one wrestler per nation / per weight class is able to score ( the highest placing ) points for the Commonwealth Team trophy. Team Scoring system is a a follows: - First place - 10 points, Second place - 7 points, Third place - 5 points, Fourth place - 3 points, Fifth place - 2 points and
Sixth place - 1 point. The competition will be held in the following weight categories:
MEN'S Freestyle - 57kg, 61kg, 65kg, 70kg, 74kg, 86kg, 97kg, 125kg
MEN'S Greco-Roman - 59kg, 66kg, 71kg, 75kg, 80kg, 85kg, 98kg, 130kg
WOMEN'S Freestyle - 48kg, 53kg, 55kg, 58kg, 60kg, 63kg, 69kg, 75kg
The 2015 - Commonwealth Championships are for SENIORS - 20 years and older. Wrestlers in the Junior age (18-yrs.) category are allowed to participate in the competition for Seniors. However, wrestlers aged -18yrs. of age in the year concerned ( competition ) must provide a medical certificate and parental authorisation.
2.3 - The weigh-in will be one day before the competitions - JUNE 5th - Men's Freestyle, - JUNE 6th - Women's Freestyle - Men's Greco-Roman style in accordance with the Rules and Regulations.
2.4 - The Men's Freestyle wrestling competition will be conducted on JUNE 6th and the Women's Freestyle and the Men's Greco-Roman Style on JUNE 7th.
3. - ELIGIBILITY FOR PARTICIPATION
3.1 - Participation in the 2015 - Commonwealth Wrestling Championships is open to all Commonwealth Nations recognized by COMMONWEALTH GAMES FEDERATION and athletes from the Commonwealth Nations, provided that their Wrestling governing bodies are members in good standing with the Commonwealth Wrestling Association. The Commonwealth Games and the Commonwealth Championships are contests between athletes and not contests between countries.
3.2 - The membership affiliation to be a member of the Commonwealth Wrestling Association by the individual Commonwealth Wrestling Nation will be determined at the Commonwealth Wrestling Association Meeting ( JUNE 5th ) in TORONTO , for a two (2) year period ( 2015 & 2017 ).
3.3 - All competitors must produce their valid UWW/ FILA licence to compete. The competitor's UWW/ FILA licence can also be purchased from UWW representative at the registration time, prior to the start of 2015- Commonwealth Wrestling Championships.
4. - OFFICIATING
4.1 - Referees belonging to the International category ( any UWW/FILA category ) can officiate at the 2015 - Commonwealth Wrestling Championships. Referees must produce their valid UWW/FILA licence. In case where a Commonwealth Nation does not have a UWW/FILA rated Referees, then they should send a highest rated Referee/ Referees in their country.
4.2 - Each Commonwealth Nation is responsible to have at least one (1) Referee accompany the Team ( 3 - or more wrestlers / per team for males - 8 weight classes ) and an additional Referee to accompany the TEAM ( 3 - or more wrestlers/per team for females- 8 weight classes ) to the Commonwealth Championships.
5. - HOSTING CONDITIONS
5.1 - The host Organizing Committee will provide accommodation and meals in TORONTO, CANADA at a rate of one-hundred and twenty( $ 120.00 US ) US dollars per day/per person. The payment for food and accommodation must be made to the Organizing Committee in TORONTO at the time of arrival of the Teams at the accommodation site in City of TORONTO, CANADA.
UWW/FILA rules governing finances can be applied to Teams that come early or stay beyond the normal dates of Competition. Finances is at the discretion of the Commonwealth Wrestling Association & 2015 Organizing Committee. 5.2 - The host Organizing Committee will provide Ground transportation to all delegations from - TORONTO International Airport and to the Accommodation site. The transportation to the Competition site and the Hotel will be provided by the Organizing Committee during the Team's stay in TORONTO.
5.3 - Participating Commonwealth Wrestling Teams must cover their own cost of the Airfare from their countries of origin to TORONTO, CANADA and return as well as Insurance.
5.4 - The Competitors Entry Fee paid to the Organising Committee is sixty ( $ 60.00 ) US dollars per wrestler/ per style - at the time of Registration before the Weigh In of Wrestlers.
5.6 - COMMONWEALTH WRESTLING CAMP - June 8-11, 2015 - cost of attending the Wrestling Camp per Wrestler/Coach/ Official is - fifty ($ 50.00 ) US Dollars. Commonwealth Wrestling Participants must let the Commonwealth Wrestling Association know before MAY 15, 2015 , the number of participants for the Camp.
6. - ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS
6.1 - Accommodation will be provided for all wrestlers, coaches, referees and officials at the designated area by the Organizing Committee. Normally, there will be two persons per room. ( Check-out time is 10:00 am on the day of departure ).
If any Teams want their team leaders or officials in a Single room additional charges will apply. In order to accommodate for single room status, Commonwealth Nation must make a written request to Commonwealth Wrestling Association and the Organizing Committee before - MAY 15, 2015.
6.2 - Meals will be provided on a schedule to be developed by the Organizing Committee. The teams will be informed of the Schedule upon their arrival at the Accommodation site in TORONTO, CANADA.
7. - VISAS
7.1 - Participating countries, which require VISAS to visit CANADA , will obtain them by forwarding the names and Passports of the Team members to the CANADIAN Consulate / Embassy in their own country or nearest country for CANADIAN Embassy. We also require that you send a copy of the Team List to the COMMONWEALTH WRESTLING ASSOCIATION and the Organizing Committee in TORONTO contact - ( E-mail - firstname.lastname@example.org and Eamonn DORGAN - email@example.com ), will send a formal letter of support to appropriate CANADIAN Consulate / Embassy.
PLEASE NOTE - You will need to apply for a VISA as soon as possible or at least 3- weeks BEFORE departing for TORONTO, CANADA, as Visas are not issued at ports of entry in CANADA.
In order to assist the VISA process, please be sure to provide the Nominative Entry as early as possible - before MAY 10, 2015. Please copy your Team List and E-mail it to Commonwealth Wrestling Association -

8. - TRAINING AND COMPETITION OPPORTUNITY
8.1 - Commonwealth Teams interested in training and hosting opportunities prior to Commonwealth Wrestling Championships in TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA, should contact Commonwealth Wrestling Association - E-mail - firstname.lastname@example.org and the Organizing Committee in Toronto - Commonwealth Wrestling Association - email@example.com and the Organizing Committee in Toronto - firstname.lastname@example.org.
8.2 - Participating Nations shall have a training facility at their disposal under a time Schedule to be fixed upon their Arrival at the Accommodation site in TORONTO, CANADA.
8.3 - Three ( 3 ) regulation size mats will be provided at the competition site.
8.4 - All the Commonwealth Wrestling Nations are Welcome to stay and then compete at the CANADA CUP of Wrestling in GUELPH, Ontario ( 40km west of Toronto) on JUNE 13th, 2015. Please make sure to let the COMMONWEALTH WRESTLING ASSOCIATION know if you are staying so we can make proper arrangements for your Team with the Organising Committee of CANADA CUP of Wrestling in GUELPH.
9. - ENTRIES
9.1 - For the PRELIMINARY ENTRIES, we would ask that you inform COMMONWEALTH WRESTLING ASSOCIATION at - email@example.com and copy to Organizing Committee E-mail contact - firstname.lastname@example.org - of your Teams Participation with a LIST of team members as soon as possible or by - MAY 10th ( if you have not done so before ).
Please List the total number of persons on your Team ( wrestlers - male/female, coaches, officials and team leaders ). We require your Wrestling Association's answer by the date of MAY 10th, 2015 - to carry out the necessary planning for Accommodation and other Services by the Organising Committee in TORONTO, CANADA for the - 2015- Commonwealth Wrestling Championships.
9.2 - PRELIMINARY ENTRIES must be received via E-mail by the Commonwealth Amateur Wrestling Association and the Organizing Committee , before -MAY 10, 2015
The LIST should contain total number of the Team compliment detailing the numbers of wrestlers ( Male & Female in Freestyle and Men's Greco-Roman ), coaches, referees, team leaders/managers and any other officials or support personnel.
9.3 - NOMINATIVE ENTRIES ( Binding Agreement ) must be received via E-mail before - MAY 15, 2015. Nominative entries should list the names of wrestlers & weight class ( male & female ) which they will be competing in, names of coaches, referees, team leader/manager, other officials and support personnel. It should also list the name of the AIRLINE, flight number, the date & time of arrival of Team to TORONTO- INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ( Pearson International ), CANADA as well as the date & time of Departure from TORONTO, CANADA.
9.4 - FINAL ENTRIES for the wrestlers will be expected by NOON - on the date of the weigh-in on JUNE 5th, and JUNE 6th , 2015 - Men's Freestyle, Women`s Freestyle ` Men's Greco-Roman . to be given to the 2015 - Commonwealth Wrestling - Organizing Committee in TORONTO, CANADA.
10 - MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS
10.1 - Each Wrestler must undergo a Medical examination that will take place the day before the competition . Wrestlers must produce a medical certificate of health before their medical examination which must be dated 3-days or less from his or her departure for Toronto, Canada.
11. - AWARDS
11.1 - The Organizing Committee will provide Commonwealth Wrestling Association medals - Gold, Silver and 2 - Bronze medals in each weight class and Team Cups to the top three( 3 ) Commonwealth teams. Top six in each weight class will receive Diploma Certificate.
11.2 - Best Wrestler Award will be presented to the Outstanding Commonwealth Wrestler in both the Men's and Women's Freestyle and Men's Greco-Roman competition.
12. - FINANCIAL CONDITIONS
12.1 - All financial obligations must be settled with the Organizing Committee for Food and Accommodations upon arrival at the Accommodation site in TORONTO, CANADA. Accommodation and meals in TORONTO, CANADA is one-hundred & twenty ( $ 120.00 ) US Dollars per day/per person. Remember the payment is to be made in US $ dollars.
