1.1The 2011- Commonwealth Wrestling Championships will be held in city of MELBOURNE, Victoria, AUSTRALIA, hosted by WRESTLING AUSTRALIA INC., organized by Victorian Wrestling Association on behalf of Wrestling Australia Inc. under the auspices & sanction of the Commonwealth Wrestling Association and the approval and sanction of FILA & Commonwealth Games Federation.
1.2The event will be held in City of Melbourne sports hall for spectators and has all the necessary facilities for wrestlers, coaches, officials and referees.
1.3The competition will take place on August 5-7,2011.
2.1The Commonwealth Wrestling Championships will be run in accordance with FILA ( NEW ) wrestling rules with the modified Commonwealth Wrestling Association rules of pool system, team scoring and team compliment.
2.2Each Commonwealth wrestling team can enter a maximum of two ( 2 ) athletes in Men's FREESTYLE wrestling per weight class. For the Men's GRECO-ROMAN wrestling and Women's FREESTYLE wrestling, each Commonwealth Nation can enter a maximum of four ( 4 ) athletes per weight class.
PLEASE NOTE - In order to promote more participation of athletes in Men's Freestyle, Women's Freestyle and Men's Greco-Roman WRESTLING, we are allowing the following ........
- In the Men's Freestyle Wrestling, each Commonwealth nation can field a maximum of two ( 2 )- wrestlers per weight class. If a Commonwealth nation is not fielding a National Team then a State / Provincial or Club wrestlers or Individual wrestlers can participate & may be accepted as long as there is maximum of - 2 wrestlers per weight class maintained from a Commonwealth Nation for Men's Freestyle wrestling.
- In Women's Freestyle Wrestling & Men's Greco-Roman Wrestling, - each Commonwealth nation can field a maximum of four ( 4 )- wrestlers per weight class. If a Commonwealth nation is not fielding a National Team then a State / Provincial or Club wrestlers or Individual wrestlers can participate & may be accepted as long as there is maximum of - 4 -wrestlers per weight class maintained from a Commonwealth Nation.
We will accept teams that may come from a State or a Province or a Club ( example - Australian, Nigerian, South African or Indian states and Canadian provinces or Clubs). Individual Women Freestyle wrestlers and Men Greco-Roman wrestlers will be allowed to compete as long as they are from a member Commonwealth nation and have or purchased a FILA licence before the competition. A combination of National Team and or State, Province or Club or Individual wrestlers will be accepted as long as the maximum number of four ( 4 ) athletes ( Women's Freestyle & Men's Greco-Roman wrestling ) per weight class is maintained from a Commonwealth nation.
Please Note: - in Women's Freestyle wrestling and in the Men's Greco-Roman style wrestling there is a limit of four ( 4 ) wrestlers per weight class from a Commonwealth wrestling nation.
For the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship only one wrestler per nation / per weight class is able to score ( the highest placing ) points for the Commonwealth Team trophy. Team Scoring system is a a follows: - First place - 10 points, Second place - 7 points, Third place - 5 points, Fourth place - 3 points, Fifth place - 2 points and Sixth place - 1 point.The competition will be held in the following weight categories:
MEN: - 55 kg, 60, 66, 74, 84, 96, and 96-120 kg.
WOMEN: - 48 kg, 51, 55, 59, 63, 67 and 67-72 kg.
The 2011 - Commonwealth Championships are for SENIORS - 20 years and older. Wrestlers in the junior age (18yrs.) category are allowed to participate in the competition for seniors. However, wrestlers aged -18yrs. of age in the year concerned (competition ) must provide a medical certificate and parental authorisation.
2.3The weigh-in will be one day before the competitions ( August 4th - men's Greco-Roman, August 5th - women's Freestyle & August 6th - men's Freestyle ) in accordance with the Rules and Regulations.
2.4No tolerance of weight will be allowed.
2.5 The competition format will be a modified Pool system, A & B pools with all athletes wrestling each other within each pool in Preliminary phase. Top 3 wrestlers from each pool will go on to wrestle in quoter- final, semi - final and finals for the classification 1 - 6 th place.
2.6 The wrestling competition will be conducted on August 5th, 6th & 7th. Teams could depart Australia on August 8th, 2011. The Commonwealth Teams that stay and participate in Commonwealth Wrestling CAMP ( August 8-12 ) and the AUSTRALIA CUP of International Wrestling Tournament ( August 13-14 ) would leave Australia on Monday, August 15th.
3.ELIGIBILITY FOR PARTICIPATION
3.1Participation in the 2011 - Commonwealth Wrestling Championships is open to all Commonwealth Nations recognized by COMMONWEALTH GAMES FEDERATION and athletes from the Commonwealth Nations, provided that their Wrestling governing bodies are members in good standing with the Commonwealth Wrestling Association. The Commonwealth Games and the Commonwealth Championships are contests between athletes and not contests between countries.
3.2The membership affiliation to be a member of the Commonwealth Wrestling Association by the individual Commonwealth Wrestling Nation will be determined at the Commonwealth Wrestling Association Meeting in Melbourne, Australia for a two (2) year period ( 2011 & 2013 ).
3.3All competitors must produce their valid FILA licence to compete.Thecompetitor's FILA licence can also be purchased from FILA representative at the registration time, prior to the start of2011- Commonwealth Wrestling Championships.
4.1Referees belonging to the International category ( any FILA category ) shall officiate at the 2011 - Commonwealth Wrestling Championships.Referees must produce their valid FILA licence.
5.1The host Organizing Committee will provide accommodation and meals in MELBOURNE, Victoriaat a rate of one-hundred( $ 100.00 US ) or one-hundred & twenty ( $120.00 US ) US dollars per day/per person depending on which HOTEL the team chooses to stay in. The payment for food and accommodation must be made to the Organizing Committee at the time of arrival of the Teams at the accommodation site in city of Melbourne,Victoria, AUSTRALIA.
FILA rules governing finances can be applied to Teams that come early or stay beyond the normal dates of Competition, Wrestling Camp & Australia Cup at the discretion of the Commonwealth Wrestling Association & 2011 Commonwealth Wrestling Championship Organizing Committee. 5.2The host Organizing Committee will provide free ground transportation to all delegations from - Melbourne International Airport and the accommodation site in the city of MELBOURNE. The transportation to the competition site and the Hotel will be provided by the Organizing Committee during the teams stay in Australia.
5.3Participating Commonwealth wrestling teams must cover their own cost of the Airfare from their countries of origin to Melbourne, Victoria, AUSTRALIAand return.
6.ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS
6.1Accommodation will be provided for all wrestlers, coaches, referees and officials at the designated area by the Organizing Committee. Normally, there will be two persons per room. ( Check-out time is
10:00 am on the day of departure ).
If any teams want their team leaders or officials in a single room additional charges could apply. In order to accommodate for single room status, Commonwealth nation must make a written request to Commonwealth Wrestling Association and the Organizing Committee before - June 30, 2011.
6.2Meals will be provided on a schedule to be developed by the Organizing Committee. The teams will be informed of the Schedule upon their arrivalat the accommodation site in Melbourne, Victoria, AUSTRALIA.
7.1Participating countries, which require VISAS to visit AUSTRALIA, will obtain them by forwarding the names of the delegation members to the Australian High Commission (Embassy) in their own country . We also require that you send a copy to the Organizing Committee (via E-mail - firstname.lastname@example.org) , and complete VISA entry form, who will also send them to the appropriate Australian High Commission (Embassy) with a formal letter. 8.TRAINING AND COMPETITION CONDITIONS
8.1Commonwealth teams interested in training and hosting opportunities prior to Commonwealth Wrestling Championships in AUSTRALIA, should contact the Organizing Committee. Some support may be available, on a first come, first served basis. Interested countries should contact Organizing Committee in Melbourne via E-mail -
8.2Participating countries shall have a training facility at their disposal under a time Schedule to be fixed upon their arrival at the accommodation site in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
8.3Three ( 3 ) regulation size mats will be provided at the competition site.

9.2PRELIMINARYENTRIESmust be received via E-mail by the Commonwealth Amateur Wrestling Association and the Organizing Committee , before June 15, 2011.It should contain total number of the team compliment detailing the number of wrestlers ( male & female in Freestyle and men's Greco-Roman ) , coaches, referees, team leaders/managers and any other officials or support personnel. 9.3NOMINATIVEENTRIES ( binding agreement ) must be received via E-mailbeforeJuly 5, 2011. Nominative entries should list the names of wrestlers & weight class ( male & female )which they will be competing in, names of coaches, referees, team leader/manager, other officials and support personnel. It should also list the name of the AIRLINE, flight number, the date & time of arrival of team to MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, Melbourne, Victoria, AUSTRALIA as well as the date & time of departure from AUSTRALIA. 9.4FINALENTRIESfor the wrestlers will be expected by NOON - on the date of the the weigh-in on August 4th ( Greco-Roman ), August 5th - ( Women's Freestyle) & August 6th ( Men's Freestyle ), to be given to the 2011 Commonwealth Wrestling Organizing Committee.
10.1Each Wrestler must undergo a medical examination that will take place the day before the competition . Wrestlers must produce a medical certificate of health before their medical examination which must be dated 3-days or less from his or her departure for AUSTRALIA.
PLEASE NOTE - there will be a random - drug testing of athletes at this competition.
11.1The Organizing Committee will provide awards for the top three placing in each weight class and the top three Commonwealth teams. Top six in each weight class will receive Diploma Certificate.
11.2Best Wrestler Award will be presented to the Outstanding Commonwealth Wrestler in both the Men's and Women's Freestyle and Men's Greco-Roman competition.
12.1All financial obligations must be settled with the Organizing Committee for food and accommodations upon arrival at the accommodation site in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Accommodation and meals in
